Launching Discovery+ Across EMEA

Hit a fixed launch date by making delivery data-driven. We retooled Discovery+ and Eurosport with capacity-based forecasting, Story Points, and daily decision support across six teams. Result: on-time launch, sustainable cadence, and teams able to run the delivery model themselves.

We streamlined the delivery of Discovery+ by introducing a data-driven agile approach, refining Story Point estimations, and fostering cross-functional collaboration, ensuring the platform met its tight launch deadline with clear and actionable insights.

Discovery+ faced a tight deadline to launch, as announced by the CEO, requiring the coordination of six development teams to redesign and merge content. The primary visual rebrand team, which Tenhaw was tasked to run, was overwhelmed with the amount of work relative to the time available.

Tenhaw proposed a data-driven approach to delivery management, refining the use of Story Points to reflect actual team capacity post-completion rather than initial estimates. This method enabled better tracking of progress and clearer communication about potential risks to stakeholders.

Over three sprints, we implemented capacity-based tracking and presented a Happy, Normal, and Sad path forecast to the Head of Delivery. This transparency highlighted the likelihood of missing the deadline without additional resources. Alongside this, we provided daily recommendations to improve delivery speed and quality. Over 10 months, we worked across Discovery+ and Eurosport, ensuring all teams had the tools to sustain effective delivery practices independently

Our efforts gave Discovery+ and Eurosport the clarity needed to manage delivery effectively under tight constraints. By the end of our engagement, the teams were equipped with the frameworks and tools to manage their delivery autonomously, ensuring long-term efficiency and quality in their processes.
